Posted on 22 Apr 2021
NATIONAL STALKING AWARENESS WEEK
This week is National Stalking Awareness Week - a campaign led by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. The mission of the Trust is to "reduce the risk of violence and aggression through campaigning, education and support" in memory of Suzy Lamplugh who disappeared in 1986.
This year's campaign will focus on changes in perpetrator behaviour since the outbreak of COVID-19 - 'Unmaksing Stalking: A Changing Landscape'. Whilst an online conference being held online by the Trust is fully booked, two podcasts are being arranged:
• Helplines: Adapting to COVID-19: this podcast discusses the changes that frontline services have had to make due to changes in perpetrator behaviour since the pandemic. The podcast has already been released, and can be found here: https://www.suzylamplugh.org/unmasking-stalking-helplines-adapting-to-covid-19
• Stalking Victims Navigating the Criminal Justice System: how victims' experiences of the criminal justice system have changed since the pandemic will be discussed. You will be able to find the link to the podcast from this page from the 22 April: https://www.suzylamplugh.org/News/national-stalking-awareness-week-2021-unmasking-stalking-a-changing-landscape.
Please support the campaign by sharing with friends and family, and spreading the message across your own social media channels using the hashtag #UnmaskingStalking to spread your own message. You can follow the Suzy Lamplugh Trust on Twitter or Facebook.
